Microsoft's upcoming xCloud browser-based gaming streaming service for the web was leaked in a screenshot. According to The Verge, the service is currently in testing by Microsoft employees ahead of its public release. For now, the browser-based game streaming services are an uncluttered bunch. There are only three major players in the space, Sony's PlayStation Now, Nvidia's GeForce Now and Google's Stadia.
The company already seems to have the gaming service ready for consumption via a browser, with images showing what the web version looks like and how games should look like while they’re in a browser - they basically run in full-screen mode, which is not surprising, considering this is also how Google Stadia works.

According to the report, Microsoft is also likely to push xCloud support into its own Xbox app on Windows computers. Having the web version that works only on Chromium-based browsers like Chrome and Edge eliminates potential users who would love to play on their computers, but only have Mozilla Firefox installed - so the app option is a definite improvement.

Google's Stadia has been struggling since launch. There appears to be no takers so far for Google's game streaming platform. It would be safe to assume that Google isn't done just yet with game streaming but then again they did shut down the Stadia games division barely a year in.
